Hostels in Latin America are something very special, because they are built with incredible attention to detail and invite you to feel good and stay. The owners usually design their hostels like their own home, and that’s exactly what you will feel once you get there. Green spaces, plants, decorations corresponding to the cultures – each hostel has its very own style. We wholeheartedly stand behind our partner hostels, whose quality and warmth we have experienced ourselves.

Best of all, as you immerse yourself in a new and exciting culture, you’ll playfully improve both your Spanish and your English. Soon you will no longer feel like a tourist, but like a local.

There are many hostels in Latin America – all are different and unique in their own way. Whether large hostels with many beds or small hostels with only a few guests, relaxed cozy hostels, party hostels, city or beach hostels, Our partner hostels are as diverse as the tasks and our participants.

That is exactly why we want to find the ideal place for everyone. We do our best to make our participants feel taken care of and part of a great team from the very beginning. We want to get to know you better before your placement, so we can assess which of our hostels best suits your needs and expectations.

In most cases, we get to know our participants better over the phone. After you have decided on the Hostel Experience program in your dream country and the booking is completed, we will also send you a detailed questionnaire, which we have continuously developed over the years. Your answers to our questions help us to get to know you and your ideas further, and to use this information for your placement in one of our hostels. For example, you can choose whether you prefer to work on the beach or in a city, whether you prefer to take it easy in the evening or dance until dawn, or which position you would prefer to have in the hostel. Of course we are also interested in your hobbies and interests. Is there anything you have always wanted to do, learn or experience?

From your answers we create your profile and consider exactly which hostel suits you. To involve you in the decision, you will receive a selection with detailed descriptions of the program locations we suggest. Now you can take your time and let us know your preferences. In addition, we will contact our hostels with your profile. Your final placement will be sent to you about a month before departure with all the important information.

We know and love all our hostels with all our heart, we visit them regularly and we also like to stay there privately. The managers of our hostels have become friends and confidants over the years of working together. Thus, the communication channels are short and transparent. This allows us to react quickly and at short notice to unforeseen situations.

Front desk:

You will love your position at the front desk, because here you have the opportunity to meet many new people from all over the world, playfully improve your language skills and at the same time gain your first work experience in the hotel industry. You welcome guests, show them to their rooms and guide them through the hostel. You make guests feel at home immediately and are their contact person for wishes and concerns from now on. You always have an open ear for the guests of the hostel and give valuable tips for excursions in the area. Of course, you will also be involved in administrative tasks, such as managing the hostel’s online bookings or answering the phone. But don’t worry! Especially at the beginning, you will not be alone and will be extensively trained in your new position. And even otherwise, your new colleagues are always there for you when you face challenges.

Bartending:

This is where life happens! The bar is the heart of the hostel, where travelers from all over the world meet to relax, celebrate and end the day together. With a tasty drink in your hand, it’s all about exciting adventures and useful travel tips. And as a bartender, you’re right in the middle of it! No matter if during the day or at a later hour. You take care of the drinks, create a good atmosphere and organize theme nights and games for guests. With good conversations you will quickly get to know new people and improve your language skills at the same time. Of course, all the important procedures and drinks will be explained to you in detail at the beginning, and you won’t ever be left alone.

Event Management:

What makes for an unforgettable time at the hostel? Of course, cool people, a relaxed atmosphere and events that make you forget about time. There is always something going on in our hostels. Whether pool parties, beer pong tournaments or theme parties – creativity, organizational skills and teamwork are in demand. For your position in event management, that’s exactly what you’re responsible for. You plan, coordinate and are responsible for the smooth running of events, ensuring unforgettable moments for guests, your colleagues and, of course, yourself.

Organization of tours:

In the surroundings of our hostels there are many exciting destinations, beautiful nature and unique sights. In order to show guests of the hostel the beauty of your new home, you will organize tours in the surrounding area together with your colleagues, which you will then carry out together with guests. This is where your organizational skills and good mood are needed. The beauty of this position is that you get to know your work location very well, discover the most beautiful places and soon feel like a local.

Service / Restaurant:

In a hostel there is usually a restaurant where breakfast, but often also other meals of the day are served. Here you can prove your skills as a service person. You will help to set up the buffet, serve guests and take care of their physical well-being. Of course, fun is not neglected here either, because guests should feel completely comfortable. You don’t have any experience in service yet? Don’t worry, you’ll learn everything on the spot. And these skills can also be useful back home in a part-time job. And the beauty of this position is that you’ll have your evenings free to experience the hostel bar from the other side of the counter.

Cuisine:

Our hostels’ delicious food is homemade, of course, so there’s plenty to do in the hostel kitchen, too. In the morning shift, for example, you’ll help prepare a hearty breakfast. In the evening, you’ll be at the grill or putting delicious pizza in the oven. Here you are always in good company, because – as we say in Germany – friendship goes through the stomach. Depending on the hostel, you can also get creative yourself. And of course you will not miss out either and will be provided with the most delicious food.

Our hostels are all structured differently and not in every hostel the volunteers can take over all tasks. But every position has its own special advantages, and fun at work is always the first priority.

If you are particularly keen on a task, you are welcome to tell us about it during your consultation and indicate it in your questionnaire after booking. Then we can take your wishes and ideas into account in the placement.

We believe that learning or improving your Spanish skills is essential for your successful Work & Travel adventure in Latin America. Of course, during your work in a hostel you will playfully develop your language skills, but it is a great advantage to have some vocabulary and phrases down by the time you start working. For this reason, our Hostel Experience programs include a 2-week language course at the beginning of the trip. The courses take place parallel to the Hostel Program. Of course, we plan the language course in consultation with your hostel before your trip, so that it will not overlap with your tasks in the hostel and your free time will not be too short. You want more? Of course you can extend the language course at any time.

The language course will take place in a language school or with a private teacher, depending on the program location.

Our language teachers:

We have been working with our private language teachers for many years and are convinced of their teaching quality. The one-on-one lessons are perfectly adapted to your existing level of Spanish. Our private language teachers already have many years of experience in teaching and a good command of English to ensure communication.

During the two weeks of the language course, you will work on your Spanish skills for one hour a day, five days a week, together with your language teacher. In order to achieve maximum learning success, you should also plan some time to review what you have learned, because individual lessons can be very intensive. You will notice that after just two weeks your language skills will have improved significantly.

Our language schools:

We have carefully selected our partner language schools in each location and have convinced ourselves of the quality of the teaching. We work with smaller language schools that focus on personalized instruction and maximum learning success, rather than on masses of students. Here it is very familiar and friendly. In addition to classes, the schools often offer other activities where you can quickly connect with your classmates, but also get an insight into the culture of your dream country. How about a cooking or dance class? The perfect atmosphere for learning a new language.

Intensive consultation: Before booking your trip, our experienced staff will advise you intensively and you will learn everything about our diverse offers. This way we make sure that we put together the right program for everyone.

Constant availability: You can contact us at any time by email, phone or WhatsApp if you have any questions. We will be happy to personally get to know you and provide you with advice and support.

Comprehensive preparation documents: Our preparation package, which we will send you after booking, contains everything you need for your trip. Among other things, you will receive a packing list, the most important health information, a budget plan developed through experience, our favorite travel routes and many insider tips about the program locations.

Travel time: As the name suggests, Work & Travel is not only about working, but also about traveling and discovering the country. Upon request, we will not only take care of your placement in a suitable program, but also the planning and organization of your travel time and give you important advice.

Flight Offers: If you wish, we will take care of booking your flights together with our trusted travel agency. Here you don’t have to worry about anything – if you want, we even take care of your online check-in.

Insurances: If you wish, we will take care of booking a travel cancellation and travel health insurance for you.

Certificate: In order to keep your entitlement to child benefits, we can officially certify your participation in the program upon request. If you have any questions, please contact us at any time.

Arrival: In each of our destination countries we have a German-speaking contact person who will personally meet you at the airport and take you to your hostel, where you will be accommodated during the introduction days.

Introduction meeting: At the beginning of your Work & Travel adventure, our contact person will explain and show you everything important during the introduction days. You will get a first impression of your new home and you can ask all your questions.

Spanish Course: If you join our Hostel Experience program, a Spanish language course is included at the beginning of your trip. Perfect if you are a Spanish beginner or want to refresh your school knowledge.

Support: Our contact person in the destination country, as well as the staff in Germany, are always available for you, so that you always feel in good hands and safe. There is a contact person from WanderWorld in each country. Since the projects are distributed throughout the country, it cannot be guaranteed that this person will be at the program location.

Excursions: If several of our participants are in one place at the same time, optional excursions and activities can be planned with other participants.

Our WanderWorld T-Shirt: We at WanderWorld Travel see ourselves as a family. With our t-shirt we want to connect all our participants and create cool photos.

Certificate and attestation: After successful participation in our program, you will receive a certificate with all the information you need. This will look great in future job applications. If you want to count your participation towards your studies, for example, we will also be happy to issue you with a suitable certificate.
