Then our 1-Year-Program is just the right thing for you. You can participate in some of our selected volunteer projects for 10-12 months and discover a country for a whole year.
Our projects are diverse, you will either support children, animals or the environment and help local organizations on site with their daily work. In doing so, you get in close contact with people or nature. A great experience that you will never forget.

Requirements / Application
The enrollment process for our “One-Year-Program” is pretty simple. We do most of the work for you.
You don’t have to meet any specific requirements to participate in the One-Year-Program. What is important is that you meet the requirements of the project you want to sign up for. For the children’s aid projects, for example, you must have a basic knowledge of Spanish. You can find the requirements on the respective project page.
Applying is very simple: In a video call interview, we determine your suitability for the project. Afterwards we create your application documents and you fill out a questionnaire on our website, in which you explain your motivation again in writing. We forward this to the project. The project usually confirms your place in the project after a short time.

Visa
In Costa Rica there is a visa for voluntary services. For this purpose, an application must be made, for which the following documents are needed: Passport photo, copies of passport, international birth certificate with apostille, police clearance certificate with apostille, acceptance confirmation from the volunteer project, solvency proof of parents. The application must be submitted to the Costa Rican Embassy in Berlin and signed there in person. In Costa Rica the documents have to be presented again at the immigration office.
“Visa Run”
A second option is to enter and exit one of the neighboring countries, Panama or Nicaragua. When entering the country as a tourist, you automatically get a visa for 90 days. After a short stay in another country and re-entry into Costa Rica, the tourist visa is granted again for 90 days.
Guatemala
Visa
In Guatemala it is generally possible to apply for a visa for one year in order to participate in a volunteer project. The visa must be applied for during the first three months on site in Guatemala City. A confirmation of the project and a birth certificate are required. We will of course assist you with the application process.
“Visa Run”
A second possibility is the entry and exit to Mexico. When entering Mexico as a tourist, you will automatically receive a visa for 90 days. This can easily be extended at the authorities in Guatemala City. After another 90 days you can travel for a long weekend to San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico and get again a visa of 90 days on entry. You can now extend this again for 90 days. The trip to San Cristobal de las Casas from Antigua takes about 10 hours by shuttle bus.

Intensive consultation: Before booking your trip, our experienced staff will advise you intensively and you will learn everything about our diverse offer. This way we make sure that we put together the right program for everyone.
Constant availability: You can contact us at any time by email, phone or WhatsApp if you have any questions. We will be happy to meet you personally and provide you with advice and support.
Comprehensive preparation documents: Our preparation package, which we will send you after booking, contains everything you need for your trip. Among other things, you will receive a proven packing list, the most important health information, a budget plan developed through experience, our favorite travel routes and many insider tips about the program locations.
Flight quote: If you wish, we will take care of booking your flights. Here you don’t have to worry about anything – if you want, we’ll even take care of your online check-in.
Insurances: Also if you wish, we will take care of booking travel cancellation and travel health insurance for you.
Certificate: In order to keep your entitlement to child benefits, we can officially certify your participation in the program upon request. If you have any questions, please contact us at any time.
AT YOUR DESTINATION
Arrival: In each of our destination countries, we have a German-speaking contact person who will personally meet you at the airport and take you to your hostel, where you will be accommodated during the introduction days.
Introduction meeting: At the beginning of your Work & Travel adventure, our contact person will explain and show you everything you need to know during the introduction days. You will get a first impression of your new home and you can ask all your questions.
Spanish course: If you want, we can organize a Spanish course for you at the beginning of your trip. Perfect if you are a Spanish beginner or want to refresh your school knowledge.
Support: Our local contact person, as well as the staff in Germany, are available 24/7, so that you always feel safe and in good hands.
Excursions: If several of our participants are in one place at the same time, optional excursions and activities can be planned with other participants.
Our WanderWorld T-Shirt: We at WanderWorld Travel see ourselves as a family. With our t-shirt we want to connect all our participants and create cool photos.
AFTER YOUR TRAVELS
Certificate and attestation: After successful participation in our program, you will of course receive a certificate with all the information you need. This will look great in future job applications. If you want to take your participation into account in your studies, for example, we will of course be happy to issue you with a suitable certificate. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
4 good reasons for the 1-Year-Program
#1 If you stay in a project for a longer period of time, you have more time to settle in and get familiar with everything. You may have never been to Latin America before and never worked in a similar project. In the beginning you might need more time to get used to the project and to get to know the people and the culture. With the 1-Year-Program you have all the time in the world and can get to know many different areas and gain experience.
#2 You will become an integral and indispensable part of the team. You can learn your tasks and responsibilities intensively and your teammates can teach you much more than if you leave after a few weeks. As a volunteer, you will be given more and more responsibility over time and will be able to take care of tasks and projects on your own.
#3 Help shape long-term projects. It will be an incredible experience for you to witness the development of your project. For example, how the children in your teaching project develop, how animals in your wildlife project can be released back into the wild or how the rainforest in the Rainforest Reserve regenerates. The 1-Year-Program gives you the opportunity to set up your own projects and drive long-term, positive change.
#4 Experience culture intensively. The chance to go abroad for a year doesn’t come along very often in life. You can get to know a foreign culture and language more intensively than on any other tourist vacation. You will be immersed in the country and the society and will take home many valuable experiences that you will never forget.
