On the beautiful Pacific coast of Costa Rica, the water temperature is pleasantly warm all year round and there are perfect waves for surfing almost all year round. Surfing is the most popular sport in Costa Rica, which is why many tourists are drawn to this beautiful country every year. Tamarindo is one of the most popular surfing hotspots. The beautiful beaches not only make surfers' hearts beat faster. As the size of the waves varies daily from morning to evening, both pros and beginners can let off steam on the board and enjoy their favorite activity for hours every day. In Tamarindo, everything revolves around surfing: One surf store follows the next and the bars are already talking about tomorrow's perfect wave in the evening.
The passionately run surf camp offers surf lessons, surfboard rental, tours and packages and accommodation in the boutique hotel of the same name. Many guests stay at the camp for 1-2 weeks and book packages with daily surf lessons and accommodation in the hotel. The camp is located on the beach in a prime location and directly on Tamarindo's main surf break. Our surf partner school is one of the oldest and most popular in Tamarindo and has been running for over 30 years. The boutique surf camp also has a very high standard with a beautiful hotel. We love this surf school in particular because it combines European professionalism with Costa Rican nonchalance 😊.
At the surf camp, you have the great opportunity to learn to surf directly from the pros. You get your first surf lesson for free and you can always use the equipment for free in your free time. Du lernst das Leben und Arbeiten in einem fremden Tropenparadies kennen und wirst deine Freizeit jeden Tag am Strand verbringen. Lerne das Surfen aus erster Hand, die erste Surf-Lesson ist für dich gratis. Das Surfcamp liegt im Zentrum Tamarindos und täglich kommen viele Touristen zum Shop, um sich Bretter auszuleihen oder Surfstunden zu buchen. Du unterstützt das Team beim Verleih und Verkauf im Shop und berätst die Kunden. Die Mitarbeiter zeigen dir das richtige Equipment, denn es gibt viele verschiedene Surfboards mit unterschiedlichen Längen für Anfänger und Profis. Außerdem kannst du dem Team beim Verkauf und der Organisation von Surf-Packages und Touren zu anderen Stränden in der Umgebung unter die Arme greifen. Zudem hältst du das Whiteboard in der Lobby mit den aktuellen Angeboten immer up-to-date. Zu deinen To-Dos gehört es auch, den Surf-Shop sauber und ordentlich zu halten, zum Beispiel den Boden zu fegen, Müll zu entsorgen und die Surf-Bretter zu reinigen.
In the project's own hotel, you will be in charge of reception and help with room reservations and guest check-in. Before check-in and after check-out, you check each room carefully. You can show guests to their rooms and look after the well-being of the surfers. There are regular cool activities for the camp guests, such as an evening together in a bar in Tamarindo. Here you can help with the organization and be part of the community.
You will also stay in one of the beautiful shared rooms of the highest standard in the surf camp hotel. Once a week, you will help with stocktaking and checking the hotel. When dealing with guests, customers and employees, it is particularly important that you are always friendly, attentive and respectful. This also includes appropriate dress, punctuality and a sense of responsibility.
In your free time, get on the board yourself and become a surf pro. Enjoy the breathtaking sunsets on the beach and visit the numerous bars and restaurants.
Tamarindo is Costa Rica's absolute surfer's paradise! For all pros, as well as for those who want to learn. The small town in the north of Costa Rica owes its reputation to the dream beaches that invite you to surf and the variety of hotels, restaurants and bars. With pleasantly warm water all year round, there is no better place than Playa Tamarindo to catch the perfect wave. Water sports such as swimming, surfing or fishing during the day and vibrant nightlife at sunset. There are also numerous other beautiful beaches just a few kilometers away, such as Playa Conchal.
Playa Grande beach in the Marino Las Baulas National Park is also very close by. The national park is a protected area and owes its name to the Baula turtle. These magnificent giant turtles, the largest marine reptiles in the world, come to Playa Grande in large populations between November and April to mate and lay their eggs. During the day, however, the beach is open for swimming and surfing.

No knowledge is required to take part in the surf camp. You don't need to have any surfing experience either, you will learn this on site. Of course, you should be enthusiastic about water sports, surfing and everything that goes with it and bring plenty of motivation and a good mood with you. Reliability, punctuality and a sense of responsibility are important for working at the surf camp so that the teamwork works well for everyone.
Participation requires a Application vorausgesetzt. In einem Telefongespräch stellen wir zunächst fest, ob du für das Projekt geeignet bist. Im Anschluss füllst du die Bewerbungsunterlagen auf unserer Website aus. Deine Bewerbung leiten wir an das Projekt weiter. Wir empfehlen eine Bewerbung von mindestens 4 Monaten im Voraus.
The national language in Costa Rica is Spanish. You should have an advanced knowledge of English to work in the surf store. Knowledge of Spanish is not absolutely necessary, but is an advantage. If you have no knowledge of Spanish, we recommend that you take a Spanish course beforehand so that you can acquire the necessary skills and are well prepared for the project and living with the locals. We will of course be happy to organize the course for you.
You will share a shared room with the other volunteers and guests in the project's own hostel with 8 beds and a shared bathroom. The rooms are very luxurious and equipped with everything you need. Accommodation is included in the price. A communal kitchen is available for your meals. Of course there is WLAN in the accommodation. As you share the room and kitchen with other people, it is important to always leave them clean and tidy.
In Costa Rica you will be accompanied by our Contact person Helena betreut. Sie ist in San José, der Hauptstadt Costa Ricas, geboren und aufgewachsen. Während der Introductory event heißt sie dich in San José willkommen und gibt dir eine Einleitung in das Konzept, für das Costa Rica bekannt ist: Pura Vida. Während deines gesamten Aufenthaltes kannst you can contact them via WhatsApp with questions and concerns. She will also be happy to give you travel tips and recommendations for your free travel time.
