Our organization welcomes these children with open arms, helps them with their homework, offers them leisure activities and a space to develop. You provide support in all areas and become a Person of trust for the children. At the same time, you will improve your Spanish skills in a fun way and get to know and love life and culture in a Peruvian city at first hand.
Our partner organization in beautiful Huaraz never ceases to amaze us. It was set up by a Peruvian NGO and takes care of Children in need.
Unfortunately, many families in Peru live in Poverty and have neither the time nor the financial means to provide their children with a carefree life. This is where the Aid project that you too can get involved in.
The aim of the organization is to break the vicious circle of poverty and provide children with a supportive environment which accompanies them until they finish school. The project is based in a house in the center of Huaraz and welcomes many children and young people every day. It is intended to be a Sanctuary be a place of trust and respect, where young people feel safe, secure and heard.
Here the children can go before and after school to the Learning and Play come by. They will be helped with the Homework helped and offered tutoring. This makes it easier for them to safely complete their schooling - giving them the chance to lead a self-determined life. In addition to the typical School educationchildren are introduced to topics such as healthy eating, personal hygiene and respectful behavior. A place to learn, play and grow up.
Some of the organization's former children even come back later to help out themselves and to help the next Generation to support them. They are now studying at the university in Huaraz and come back to the project once or twice a week to teach. A unique project.

You play with them, teach them new activities or read to them (in Spanish). There are two groups: The older pupils come in the morning from 09:00 to 12:00 before school and the younger children in the afternoon between 15:00 and 18:00. As there are not enough school buildings for all the children in Peru, they are divided up. At the end of the day, everyone pitches in to leave the home clean.

The city of Huaraz lies high above sea level at over 3,000 meters and is surrounded by the majestic Andes. The snow-capped peaks are always present and make the city of 50,000 inhabitants a highlight of Peru.
Due to its high location in the mountains, the climate in Huaraz is cool all year round and ranges between 9 and 12 degrees. There is also a rainy and dry season. The rainy season lasts from November to April, which means that the afternoon showers are heavier during this time. The dry season with sunny weather is from June to October.
Huaraz is the perfect place for all mountain and trekking enthusiasts. Here you can get in tune with nature and go on one-day or multi-day hikes through the impressive mountain landscapes. As a reward for the ascent, you usually emerge at a turquoise, incredibly beautiful lagoon surrounded by 7,000-metre-high mountains. After your exertions, you can relax your muscles in one of the thermal baths.
The city is bustling with outdoor-loving travelers from all over the world, so there is always something going on. Tours are planned in the bars and adventures are reported.
The organization's house is about a 5-minute walk from the main square of Huaraz and you can reach everything on foot.
You don't need any special qualifications to work in the project. Of course, you should enjoy working with children, enjoy spending time with them and be keen to make new contacts and friends. You will be working a lot with local people. You should be open-minded and have the motivation to get to know a new culture and everything that goes with it. Working on this project will playfully improve your Spanish skills and have a positive impact on your life. A wonderful experience that you will remember for a long time to come.
Für das Kinderhilfsprojekt in Huaraz verlang das Projekt keine Spanischkenntnisse, da die Betreuer vor Ort fließend Englisch sprechen und dich gerne bei der Erläuterung der Aufgaben unterstützen. Trotzdem empfehlen wir für die Teilnahme am Projekt erste Grundkenntnisse zu besitzen, um mit den Kindern kommunizieren zu können.
Das Projekt hat eine Sprachschule angeschlossen, in der man parallel zur Programmteilnahme Spanischunterricht nehmen kann. Du leistest 20 Stunden pro Woche Freiwilligenarbeit und hast 10 Stunden Spanischunterricht pro Woche in der Gruppe inkludiert.
Preis für das Programm mit begleitendem Spanischkurs: 1400,00 € für den ersten Monat, 830,00 € für den Verlängerungsmonat.
You will live together with other volunteers from different countries in the volunteer room in the organization's house. The room has several bunk beds, a lounge area and a bathroom. Accommodation in a single or double room is also possible for an additional charge.
Carlos is German-Peruvian and grew up in Lima in a German family. He still lives there today and therefore speaks both Spanish and German. He has never been in Germany for more than three months, but he knows the customs and traditions first-hand. He also knows his home country Peru and its culture and can hardly wait to show you everything. Carlos describes himself as a fun-loving, helpful and humorous person who will always be at your side with help and advice. He is our local insider who will give you lots of tips and information about Peru and the rest of Latin America. Carlos will look after you during the introductory event in Lima.
