PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Welcome to surfer’s paradise! Did you know that Tamarindo is one of the 10 best places in the world to learn how to surf? On the beautiful Pacific coast of Costa Rica, the water temperature is pleasantly warm all year round and there are perfect waves for surfing almost all year round. Surfing is the most popular sport in Costa Rica, and for this reason alone many tourists are attracted to this dreamlike country every year. Tamarindo is one of the most popular surfing hotspots. The beautiful beaches not only make surfers’ hearts beat faster. Since the wave size varies daily from morning to evening, professionals as well as all beginners can let off steam on the board and pursue their favorite activity for hours every day. In Tamarindo, everything revolves around surfing: one surf store follows the next and in the evening, people are already talking about tomorrow’s perfect wave in the bars.

The surf camp, which is run with a lot of heart and soul, offers surf lessons, surfboard rentals, tours and packages and accommodations in the boutique hotel under the same name. Many guests stay at the camp for 1 – 2 weeks and book packages with daily surf lessons and accommodation at the hotel. The camp is located on the beach in a prime location and directly at the main surf break of Tamarindo. Our surf partner school is one of the oldest and most popular in Tamarindo, it has existed for over 30 years. The boutique surf camp also has a very high standard with a beautiful hotel. We just love this surf school because it combines European professionalism with Costa Rican casualness 😊.

In the surf camp you have the great opportunity to learn surfing directly from professionals. You get your first surf lesson for free and you can always use the equipment for free in your off time. Enjoy the relaxed life on the beach and the pura-vida vibes. Also, meet surfing enthusiasts from all over the world and take the country and culture of Costa Rica into your heart.

TASKS

You’ll learn about living and working in a foreign tropical paradise and spend your free time on the beach every day. Learn surfing first hand and with a little practice, you will soon be able to give lessons to the guests yourself. The tasks are varied and change daily.  The surf camp is located in the center of Tamarindo and every day many tourists come to the store to rent boards or book surf lessons. You support the team in renting and selling in the store and advise the customers. The staff will show you the right equipment, because there are many different surfboards with different lengths for beginners and pros. You can also help the team with sales and organizing surf packages and tours to other beaches in the area. And you keep the whiteboard in the lobby up to date.

At the project’s own hotel, you’ll be in charge of the front desk and help with room reservations and guest check-in. Before check-in and after check-out you carefully check each room. You can show the rooms to the guests and take care of the surfers’ well-being. You will also stay yourself in one of the beautiful shared rooms with the highest standard in the hotel of the surf camp. Once a week you will help with the inventory and the control walk through the hotel. When dealing with guests, customers and staff, it is especially important that you are always friendly, attentive and respectful. This also includes appropriate dress, punctuality and a sense of responsibility.

In your free time, get on the board yourself and become a surfing pro. Enjoy the breathtaking sunsets on the beach and visit the numerous bars and restaurants.

Tamarindo

Tamarindo is Costa Rica’s absolute surfer’s paradise! For all professionals, as well as for those who want to learn. The small town in the north of Costa Rica owes its reputation to the dream beaches that invite you to surf and the variety of hotels, restaurants and bars. With pleasantly warm waters all year round, there is no better place than Playa Tamarindo to catch the perfect wave. Water sports like swimming, surfing or fishing during the day and vibrant nightlife at sunset. There are also numerous other beautiful beaches just a few kilometers away, such as Playa Conchal.

Also nearby is Playa Grande beach in the Marino Las Baulas National Park. The national park is a protected area and owes its name to the Baula turtle. These magnificent giant turtles, the largest marine reptiles in the world, come to Playa Grande in large populations from November to April to mate and lay their eggs. During the day, however, the beach is open for swimming and surfing.
