Our volunteer projects on bali
Animal welfare projects
In Bali, human activities, such as the expansion of infrastructure and the increasing consumption of resources, are leading to the destruction of natural habitats. Wild animals are also targets of poaching and animal traffickers. Refuges and therefore food sources are becoming increasingly scarce for animals and many species are now endangered.
By volunteering in Bali, you can support projects that are committed to the protection, care and rehabilitation of wild animals. You will also be actively contributing to the conservation of natural habitats and strengthening local communities for the future.

Volunteering in Bali
with wanderworld travel
Bali is a tropical island that offers incredible diversity in a small area. Dense rainforest, impressive temples, fantastic beaches, world-class surf spots and diving options. Here you can experience the unique Hindu culture, the warmth and tolerance of the locals and explore famous rice terraces or relax in yoga and meditation centers. The natural and animal world is as diverse as it is impressive. From volcanic landscapes to cliffs that meet the ocean. As a volunteer, you have the special opportunity to discover these different habitats, protect them and have a positive impact on the local communities at the same time. Volunteering and a longer stay in Bali offer you the chance to immerse yourself in the unique traditions and spirituality of the people. Away from mass tourism, you will have the opportunity to get to know the real Bali.
Iconic temples
Hindu Bali has a reputation as the „island of the gods“. The island is characterized by culture and spirituality. This is not only evident in the daily lives of the people, but also in the numerous temples. These are living places of faith where rituals, offerings and ceremonies are an integral part of everyday life. During your volunteer placement, you can certainly visit one of the many temples and immerse yourself in Balinese culture and traditions.
The Uluwatu Temple is enthroned on a steep cliff high above the Indian Ocean. This impressive place is particularly worth a visit at sunset. The temple offers a deep insight into the close connection between nature, religion and tradition in Bali.
Tirta Empul is a temple known for its sacred springs. Here, worshippers and visitors alike take part in traditional purification rituals. The water in the temple is considered a source of spiritual purification and inner balance.
One of the oldest and most sacred temple complexes on the island is the Lempuyang Temple, located at the foot of Mount Agung. This place symbolizes the transition between the spiritual and the secular world. In Bali, the mountains are considered the seat of the gods, and the temple stands for the Balinese people's deep reverence for the mountains.
Diverse landscapes
Bali is a paradise above all because of its diversity. The variety of landscapes in Bali is particularly impressive. In the interior of the island, you will find the iconic green rice terraces, such as the impressive Tegalalang rice terraces. Dense tropical rainforest and waterfalls also characterize the landscape in the middle of the island. Mighty volcanoes such as Mount Agung and Mount Batur rise in the north and east. Around the volcanoes, local communities benefit from the fertile soil as a basis for agriculture. The coastal landscapes around Bali offer unique experiences. Long sandy beaches, hidden bays, rugged cliffs, turquoise blue sea, dramatic cliffs in the south and quieter coastal regions in the east and west define the landscape. You are sure to find beautiful places to discover, experience or relax during your volunteer placement in Bali.
Culinary delight
Bali is considered a culinary stronghold, and traditional Balinese cuisine thrives on variety, fresh ingredients and aromatic spices. You will find small cafés, restaurants and markets with colorful dishes everywhere. Especially in the authentic street restaurants, the warungs, you can get original Balinese preparations. Rice is the basis of many dishes and is either combined with fish, meat, vegetables or tofu. As Bali is not Muslim, like most of the rest of Indonesia, but Hindu and cattle are considered sacred animals, many dishes are prepared with pork. The complex mixtures of spices give many dishes their intense, unmistakable flavor. Food is firmly anchored in people's everyday lives and often also plays an important social and spiritual role. Balinese food culture reflects community and tradition, but is also open to new, creative influences.
Helping where help is needed
The beauty of the island and its extraordinary natural diversity are impressive. At the same time, Bali is also facing a number of ecological challenges. In particular, rapidly growing tourism, increased resource consumption and the lack of a waste management system have a negative impact on the environment and ecosystems. In addition, poaching and illegal wildlife trade are threatening Bali's wildlife.
By volunteering in local initiatives, you can make a direct and valuable contribution. You support projects that strive to preserve and restore natural habitats, look after endangered species, care for them and, ideally, release them back into the wild. At the same time, you will help to raise awareness of sustainability and environmental protection through educational programs. This improves the living conditions of local communities, strengthens educational opportunities and encourages sustainable development. In this way, you make a meaningful contribution where help is needed.

A traditional wooden house with comfortable rooms awaits you at the Wildlife Sanctuary Project in Bali. Equipped with shared bathrooms, a communal kitchen and a dining room around a wonderful natural garden. It's a wonderful place to spend sociable evenings together.
The Wildlife Rescue Project in Bali offers accommodation directly in the main building of the rehabilitation center. Equipped with single beds and a shared bathroom, it is simple but functional accommodation. You can use the kitchen and communal area and meet up with other volunteers.
No matter which project you choose, you will always live on the project site and share everyday life with the local staff and other volunteers. The close proximity to local villages gives you the opportunity to visit markets, restaurants and laundrettes. The constant contact with the locals allows you to immerse yourself in the Balinese culture and way of life.
Why is volunteering in Bali worthwhile?
In addition to the breathtaking island world, fascinating culture and incredible natural diversity, there are also issues in Bali where support is urgently needed. These include the loss of pristine habitats, threats to marine ecosystems, endangered animal species, social inequality and a lack of educational opportunities in rural regions. This is precisely where our projects come in.
By volunteering in Bali, you will make a valuable contribution to wildlife and conservation programs. Even if you can't change the world on your own, you will be supporting long-term initiatives that promote ecological stability, protect resources and help communities develop sustainable paths for their future.
As an experienced travel agency, we accompany you on your journey with our knowledge and passion. We know the partner organizations personally, support you in your preparations and are at your side throughout your trip.
