The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is one of the most most extraordinary places of South America. Salt lagoons, geysers, bizarre rock formations and landscapes that seem almost from another planet await you here. Particularly impressive is the Starry sky. Thanks to the clear air, the Atacama is considered one of the best places in the world for stargazing. Many travelers explore the region around San Pedro de Atacama on day trips or tours lasting several days.
With over 4,000 kilometers of coastline, Chile offers perfect conditions for surfers. Places such as Pichilemu or the beaches around Valparaíso are particularly well-known for their constant waves and the relaxed surf culture. Whether you already have experience or want to try surfing for the first time, you will find numerous surf spots and surf schools along the Pacific coast. For many Work and Travel participants, a day by the sea with a surfboard and sunset is one of the best moments of their stay.

The perfectly formed Villarrica volcano is one of the most popular destinations for hikes. With a bit of luck, you can even reach the Rise crater.
