PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In the small fishing village of Taganga, the owner of our diving school settled a few years ago after emigrating from Austria. On the Caribbean coast of Colombia, she has fulfilled her dream and since then dedicates her life completely to her greatest passion: diving. In the diving school she offers the most diverse options of courses, for certified divers with many years of experience, but especially for beginners who still want to make their first dives without any experience. With Taganga, the Austrian has chosen a perfect starting point, because in the immediate vicinity is the Tayrona National Park, which is ideal for daily diving trips.
In the diving school, a lot of importance is attached to the fact that the students are well cared for and feel comfortable and safe. That’s why we teach in small groups with a maximum of 4 people at the same time, to be able to respond individually to each student. Because the owner is from Austria, the lessons can be held in Spanish and English as well as in German. In contrast to many tourist diving schools, our diving school attaches great importance to the quality of the training. You will get your certificate only when you have really earned it and mastered all the basic skills of diving. This will help you a lot in the future, as you will feel confident in the water and in handling the equipment. So after your project you will be able to go diving anywhere in the world with pleasure.
During your time at the diving school, you will have the opportunity to start your own diving education besides your work. In the first month, you will complete the PADI Open Water Diver. This course is the first step into a new world, that of recreational diving. At the beginning you will learn in theory lessons the most important facts about diving equipment, its construction and general practice. In order to protect the environment, the teaching is done exclusively with digital teaching materials. Once you have established a base, the practical part of the course begins, and you will complete your first training dives, first in shallow water and then later in open water. When you have successfully completed the training, you can finish the course with a small theory exam and are allowed to dive to a depth of 18 meters with your certificate.
In the second month, you will start your training to become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. After you have slowly approached the exciting world of recreational diving and have successfully completed your first dives, you start with the second level of training for recreational divers. The main goal of this course is to improve your confidence and skills as a diver. In addition, you will be able to further deepen and expand the theoretical knowledge you have learned so far. For your Advanced Open Water Diver, you will also try out more intensively in certain areas. There are countless options to choose from, including deep diving and navigation, fish identification, night diving and drift diving, to name a few. Once again, you will complete this course with a theory exam.
In addition to your diving training, you will work in the diving school and assist in various areas. Depending on your knowledge and skills, you can contribute exactly where you can help best. You will be surrounded by like-minded travelers and will quickly meet new people. And best of all, the program price also includes one additional dive per week, which you can then do with your new friends.

TASKS
In the dive center, you will complete the PADI Open Water Diver and the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
You will work about 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. In the diving school you will help in various places. Especially in marketing and office work, the dive center needs your support. For example, you will help with content creation for social media, update notices, brochures, flyers, add content to the website, and of course, take on various tasks in the office such as document management of the accounting department. Furthermore, you will write responses in rating portals, as well as assist in the daily guest check-in, and possibly also help with the maintenance and care of the diving equipment.
Since you will be directly on site, you will also get to know life in the dive center and be able to look at all aspects of a dive center. You can help sell courses or dive trips, greet guests and help them fill out forms, then help them find the right equipment and even assist in preparing the boat. All the while, you’ll be working alongside professionals and learning from the best. The perfect conditions for a successful training.

Taganga
Taganga is a small fishing village on the beautiful Caribbean coast of Colombia about 5km north of Santa Marta. Here you will find a great beach and many hip restaurants, cafes and stores along the main street. Taganga has developed a lot in the last years and is now known as a paradise to relax and a fantastic place to learn scuba diving for cheap. The village is located right next to one of Colombia’s natural wonders and highlights – Tayrona National Park. It is full of tropical forests and breathtaking beaches. The trip there is only a few minutes by boat. Best of all, the national park offers not only breathtaking nature, but some of the most unique diving spots in the world.

REQUIREMENTS
For your Sport Experience in Colombia, you need a diving fitness certificate, which can be issued by your general practitioner in Germany. This certificate should not be older than 12 months. It is also important that you feel comfortable in open water, enjoy swimming and are not afraid or panic in the sea. Everything else you will learn on the spot and as long as you bring a big portion of motivation, you will have a great time and learn everything significant in a short time.
LANGUAGE
The national language in Colombia is Spanish. Basic knowledge of Spanish is required for the project. In order to get to know the country and the people, we recommend that you take a Spanish course. Of course, we will be happy to organize this for you.
ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
You live in a shared room at the diving school in Taganga.
